Before you begin
Use a current CrossOver build and keep enough free storage for both Steam and your game. A game-specific page should take precedence if it documents special requirements.
Basic workflow
- Install CrossOver for macOS and open it.
- Choose to install a Windows application and select Steam when available.
- Let CrossOver create the recommended bottle and complete the Steam installer.
- Sign in to Steam, install one game, and test it before changing advanced bottle options.
Keep bottles understandable
If a particular game requires unusual overrides, consider a dedicated bottle. This makes troubleshooting easier and prevents a tweak for one title from destabilizing another.
Launcher interfaces and CrossOver options can change between releases. Treat game-specific compatibility pages and current product documentation as the source of truth when labels differ.
